Wedding Details

Saturday, September 22, 2007

That's the date, keep it in mind. It seems like it took forever for us to come up with that date, but finally here we are. It's been a great few years but, we've decided that the distance needs to disappear. So come September we've decided to get the wheels in motion for real! We've all of 4 months to get everything in order and set. Where to start?! Well, that's just it, where, is where we started. The ceremony and reception will be held in Canada, Montreal, Val Morin to be more specific. Where is Val Morin? It's a smaller town in the country side just north of Montreal. I found this place online, and fell in love with the beauty of the entire area. The name of the place is Manoir Mazarine. Once we figured out where, it was clear we really needed to figure out who would attend. And with that we determined that the turnout of persons from the US would be slim, but we have not forgotten about you. For those of you who can't make it, we understand. As we are WELL aware it isn't a cheap expense going out of town, and to another country no less. We are expecting mostly Jamie's family and friends to attend, however I have discovered that I have a few people willing to make the treck up to the still snowy north (thankfully, it's an autumn wedding and we won't have to deal with that).

After much discussion, we ALMOST have the entire wedding party picked out and set. The Maid of Honor: Natalie, a very dear friend of mine, whom I've known for quite a few years. We've been through it all it seems, the good the bad and most definitely the ugly, yet there was great, good, and completely amazing! I am so thrilled that you will be there! Bridesmaids: Nissa and Krista (sisters) are my cousins. I can't imagine doing it without them. From the time we were kids doing whatever it was (they know ALL the stuff, we need not mention it all here) til today I am still in closer contact with them than any of my other cousins. And I'm very excited that they accepted! Karen and Jenn (sisters) are Jamie's cousins. Though I have not spent much time with them, they've shown me nothing but kindness and I am so happy that they accepted and can't wait to get to know them even better. Bestman: Jamie's dad Ken. It's no surprise to me that Jamie would ask his dad to be the bestman, he's been nothing but supportive and wonderful to both of us. I can't imagine a better suited person for his bestman. Groomsmen: Todd and Brad, Jamie's brothers. We couldn't have a ceremony and not include them! I mean they're brothers, and I think it's great that they both decided to take part in the wedding. There are two more groomsmen, that have to be asked, they will go un-named until they get a chance to think about it and respond.

With the location and wedding party set, there was still much to do, we still need to figure out the full guest list, send out invitations, etc. We are looking into the catering, the flowers, music, photography, etc. Dressing the wedding party will prove to be the biggest challenge from this distance. We had talked about many different color schemes and styles. But since everything has to match, the first and foremost on the agenda is my bridal gown. I have a couple picked out, my heart is set on one that may not be possible but, we'll see how that goes. Until then, we wont be sure of the color scheme, though several have been picked out. We are hoping for Burgundy, Pink, and a Light Muted Green. Alternatives are Ivory, Champange, Rum, and Latte (no longer are they just drinks!) among others. With any luck this will NOT be the traditional white wedding!

More will follow, but for now I will stop, as I've got a lot of planning left to continue for tonight!
